Cummins Aftercooler

SUMEC: SMC-ZL-09|OE:

Aftercooler (Detailed Description) An aftercooler is a type of heat exchanger typically installed after an air compressor or turbocharger. Its primary function is to cool the high-temperature, high-pressure compressed air or intake air generated by compression. By reducing the gas temperature, it condenses and removes moisture and oil vapor, increases air density, improves combustion efficiency or compressed air quality, protects downstream pipelines, valves, and equipment from high-temperature damage, and enhances overall system stability and service life. Core Functions of Aftercooler 1. Cooling: Cools high-temperature compressed air or charge air. 2. Dehydration & Deoiling: Condenses and separates moisture and oil mist. 3. Efficiency Improvement: Increases air density to enhance combustion or air utilization efficiency. 4. Equipment Protection: Prevents high-temperature damage to downstream pipelines, valves, cylinders, and other components.
